    Does hydroxychloroquine lower immune system

I am asking this question, because I started this med approx. 1 month ago and prior to taking it I rarely ever got sick with colds, flu etc.

Chloroquine maculopathy dose Can you take plaquenil and ibuprofen

Plaquenil What You Need to Know. Contents What is Plaquenil. There is evidence that hydroxychloroquine may interfere with communication between cells in the immune system. This action suppresses the normally overactive immune response in lupus patients which may explain one reason Plaquenil works so well for those suffering with lupus. Hydroxychloroquine belongs to a group of medicines known as antimalarials. It works by preventing or treating malaria, a red blood cell infection transmitted by the bite of a mosquito. However, this medicine is not used to treat severe or complicated malaria. Does anyone know if Plaquenil lowers your immune system? My daughter started school in August and since then I have had one illness after another. I don't know if it's the disease itself or the medication. Or maybe it's just normal when your kid starts school.

Around 2 weeks ago, I came down with a doozy of an illness (flulike with croup like cough that just won't quit). The only thing that usually ever ailed me were the crappy Sjogrens symptoms.

  6. The epidemic of the new Coronavirus Covid-19 It has put the medical community and around the world to work, not only to treat the millions affected by this virus, but also to find a cure and stop this disease through different drugs, such as Hydroxychloroquine, also known as Plaquenil. In Mexico, Health authorities have recently

    • Hydroxychloroquine, the drug that could stop COVID-19 - archyde.
    • Plaquenil and lowered immune system - Sjogren's World.
    • What Is Plaquenil? - American Academy of Ophthalmology.

All work by suppressing the immune system. If he wants this type of drug he can try to balance control of his autoimmune disease with the risk of infection. What I mean is He might want to consider taking a lower dose of Plaquenil. This won't suppress his immune system quite as much but it also won't completely control his Sjogrens. Doctors give trusted answers on uses, effects, side-effects, and cautions Dr. Manek on what does hydroxychloroquine do to immune system In a nutshell, attacks the T lymphocytes, one important white blood cell type, considered the master of the immune system, which also has many subtypes e.g. T helper cells, T suppressor cells, etc. the virus attacks mainly the T helper cells thus disrupting. All of my symtoms pretty much cleared up. Now this year I have been having things pop up that are related to a low immune system. Some of my doctors think It is the Plaquenil causing it but then some say that Plaquenil is not an immunosuppressant drug that for some reason my immune system is out of wack. I only take 200 mg a day.
