I was put on Plaquenil and for the past 8 years I have been fine with it . Now this year I have been having things pop up that are related to a low immune system.

It changes something within the cell to decrease the inflammation. I've been on it 6 months and my joints, fatigue and nose/mouth ulcers have improved. I've had one cold since then, which isn't more than usual for me. I think you need to discuss this issue with your RD. Let him or her know you want some control, but not to make your immune system go permanently insane. I do think that Plaquenil is the mildest drug you can find. I think they all get stronger and more immune-suppressant from there, but I might be wrong!

Does anybody have any input concerning taking Plaquenil for long term therapy ? Some of my doctors think It is the Plaquenil causing it but then some say that Plaquenil is not an immunosuppressant drug that for some reason my immune system is out of wack . I tried to only take 100 mg to see if it would make a difference but I started with terrible joint pain and fatigue so I am back on the 200 mg a day.
