    Hydroxychloroquine rash

Note the presence of a confluent, erythematous eruption that is not only in a photodistribution but is now on the breasts and upper abdomen. I am interested to see if anyone here has gotten a rash from Plaquenil after being on it for several months.

Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is an antimalarial medication used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites, which enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Plaquenil is also used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. As noted, the most common antimalarial used is Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine, which is dosed by weight and used for persistent rashes. Evidence suggests that early use may delay systemic onset of lupus. Hydroxychloroquine can temporarily lower the number of white blood cells in your blood, increasing the chance of getting an infection. If you can, avoid people with infections. Check with your doctor immediately if you think you are getting an infection or if you get a fever, chills, cough or hoarseness, lower back or side pain, or painful or.

I am starting to wonder if they are related to Plaquenil. I have been getting these horrible rashes and they are not related to sun exposure.

Taking Plaquenil for Rheumatoid Arthritis Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is considered an older DMARD disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug. Plaquenil was actually first classified as an antimalarial drug, but it is also used to treat certain rheumatic and autoimmune conditions which are unrelated to malaria. Generally, Plaquenil is a treatment option as monotherapy used alone for mild rheumatoid arthritis or as combination.
